Our Story
It All Began With a Problem That Needed Solving
It all began in the 1980s, when a South Australian aviation company struggled to track parts and maintenance across its fleet of helicopters and planes. After searching for a solution that didn't exist, they partnered with a US software company to build one, and from that challenge, when the aviation industry was deregulated in 1991, IAS was born.

Unlike many software companies, IAS is led by people deeply involved in the business who truly understand the aviation industry and software development. Since Managing Director, Dieter Schmerlaib, joined the business in 1998, he has woven his expertise in Computer Science, Mathematics and Commerce directly into the IAS suite.
His 25+ year commitment to technical excellence, and refusal to accept "good enough", ensures IAS continues to evolve, innovate and solve real-world aviation challenges without unnecessary complexity.
